On Friday 20th June, our sixth annual Donations with a Difference Golf Day yielded our biggest return ever with a record-breaking £28,300 raised by the 24 teams taking to the fairways to embark on a Texas Scramble format and battle it out to see who would be crowned this year’s champions.
Returning to The Cave Hotel and Golf resort on the outskirts of Canterbury our golfers were treated to glorious summer sunshine and bright blue skies (unlike some of our other years) and enjoyed a fun-filled day on the course before frequenting the clubhouse to rehydrate and devour a Texan feast, as well as the awaited and all important prizegiving.
On the day we showcased the work we do to those in the room to ensure they understood the real difference their generosity makes to the lives of our grant recipients, which certainly helped everyone to dig a little deeper with raffle sales and auction bids. Simultaneously the day offered the Trustees the opportunity to thank legendary fundraiser and CRFC 1st XI player Kurt Heatherly who kindly shaved his impressive locks back in April raising an astonishing £12,500 for us in doing so. What a hero!
Congratulations to this year’s winners Drakemoor, who clinched the title amidst some tough competition and now get their name firmly engraved on the Winners Shield, hopefully returning to defend their title next year.
