DWAD Delivers Christmas Goodwill to Homeless

Being homeless is difficult at the best of times but at Christmas it's even harder. To try to make the festive season a little bit better for homeless people in Folkestone, Donations With A Difference funded 21 Christmas boxes which were handed out to local homeless people on Monday by DWAD trustees Will Chan and Alan Tingey. These boxes were personally prepared and wrapped by the DWAD trustees.

 

DWAD All Cash Raffle - Winning Ticket Numbers

This evening we drew the winners of our biggest ever raffle. Thank you to everybody who purchased tickets or helped us to sell them. Your support ensures that we can continue to fund grants that make a positive difference to people's lives - grants like these. We had three big cash prizes to be won - £250, £500 and a massive £1,000 first prize. The winning ticket numbers are as follows:

Quiz With A Difference - Saturday 26th November

Saturday 26th November sees the return of DWAD's Quiz With A Difference at a new venue, St. Mary's Parish Centre in Dover. This year's quiz has all your favourite rounds from previous events, culminating as ever with the dramatic Million Pound Drop round, in which you can win or lose everything. Entry costs £5 per person for teams of up to eight people. The winning team will earn a £100 donation for a charity of their choice.

 

Walmer and Kingsdown GC Adopt a Charity with a Difference

Each year it is a tradition of the club that the charity to benefit from the fundraising efforts by members during the year is chosen by the incoming Club Captain. This year’s captain, Brian Wash, has chosen DWAD (Donations With A Difference).

 

DWAD Comes to the Aid of Folkestone Unsung Hero

A Folkestone woman who fostered over 200 children during the past 25 years, has for the last three years set up a table on Christ Church Road providing meals for the homeless. Pam Jones started by providing a couple of meals a day; she now provides home cooked meals for up to 30 people daily - all prepared in her own kitchen.

 

Win £1,000 - DWAD All Cash Raffle

How would you like to win £1,000 spending money before Christmas? Donations With A Difference is pleased to announce details of our biggest raffle yet. The first prize is £1,000 in cash. And if you don't win that, you might still win the £500 second prize or £250 third prize. This year we've made it even easier to buy tickets, with online sales available for the first time. All profits from the raffle will go to good causes, with 50% of online ticket sales going to the Kelly Turner appeal.

November 5-A-Side Tournament Cancelled

The latest DWAD 5-a-side football tournament that was due to be held on Saturday 5th November at Dover Leisure Centre has been cancelled. We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this has caused. The tournament will be back in 2017 and we will let you know the date in due course. If you had already entered your team, we will be in touch to arrange a refund.

Holly Gets Her Independence - Thanks to DWAD

10-year-old Holly Filtness from Sheerness was diagnosed at the age of two with cerebral palsy with dystonia, a condition that affects all four limbs. She regularly attends the Orchards Centre in Sittingbourne - a multi-agency specialist hub that help disabled children and their families. Staff at the centre recognised the need for Holly to have an electric chair but unfortunately due to strict NHS criteria she didn’t qualify for one.

Grant Award to Sheppey Matters

We were delighted to recently present Sheppey Matters with a cheque for £1,125. Sheppey Matters is one of Swale's leading regeneration charities co-ordinating a wide range of community activities at their base in the Healthy Living Centre and around the Isle of Sheppey.

 

Further DWAD Grant for Pilgrims Hospices

Donations With A Difference has raised £410.00 for Pilgrims Hospices through various events in the past 12 months. The money we have given to the organisation will pay for over 20 hours of nursing care for patients. Without money like this the hospices would struggle to survive.

 

DWAD Funds Equipment for SeeAbility Residents

Yesterday, Donations With A Difference trustee Will Chan presented a cheque for £525.34 to Laura, one of the residents at SeeAbility Kent Support Service, Maidstone. SeeAbility Maidstone provides a lively shared service for young adults living with sight loss and additional disabilities, aiming to transition to greater independence in the future.

 

DWAD Pledges Super10 Proceeds to Kelly Turner

DWAD is pleased to announce that all proceeds from this season's Super10 charity football game will be donated to Kent teenager Kelly Turner. Kelly has a rare form of cancer and needs to raise £1 million to fund surgery in the USA. Thanks to the generous support of several business who have sponsored Super10 this season, including main sponsors Mila Maintenance, we have already fully funded our best ever prize pool and can ensure that every penny we receive from your entry fees will go towards helping Kelly and her family achieve their fundraising target.

Donations With A Difference are delighted to announce that Mila Window and Door Maintenance, recent Housing Innovation Awards winners 2016, have once again supported our online fantasy football game Super10. Super10 allows players to pick multiply teams from a budget in a fantasy football style game. Cash prizes can be won with all other proceeds going to the DWAD grant fund.

 

Super10 2016/17 - More than £1200 in prizes

The European Championships have only just finished but already there is just a month to go until the new football season kicks-off. As ever, that means the return of DWAD's charity football competition, Super10. Super10 is a low-maintenance fantasy football type game where you pick clubs instead of players. Pick 7 English clubs and 3 from elsewhere in Europe to score points for you throughout the season and, as well has helping to fund DWAD grants, you could win a share of our biggest ever prize fund and win money for a charity of your choice.

2nd Annual DWAD Golf Day Raises Over £5,600

Super10 Survey - Geoff Hurst Shirt Winner

On Monday we e-mailed all of this season's Super10 players to ask them to complete a survey to help us refine the contest for next season. As an incentive we were offering a shirt signed by 1966 World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst. The survey closed last night and we have now collated the responses and selected one respondent at random to win this special prize. The winner is Nick Pryce. Congratulations Nick, we will be in contact to arrange delivery of your prize. Thanks to everybody who responded to the survey. We will take your feedback on board and will be looking to open registration for next season's Super10 at some point in June.

 

8-year-old Lilly-Ann gets her Tiny Trax chair and a new lease of life

Lilly-Ann Robertson suffers from a very rare genetic illness that affects the MED12 gene - she was the first reported case in the world. Her mother Roxanne said ‘When Lilly-Ann was born we were aware of problems but not the severity. Lilly-Ann is unable to walk, talk or do the things a child of her age should be able to do.”

 

Donations With A Difference & Ron Lobeck

DWAD are pleased to have been presented with a specially commissioned golf-inspired drawing by ex-weatherman Ron Lobeck. Donations With A Difference are a Kent-based charity that support grants to organisations and individuals that need assistance within the physical and mental health and well-being aspect of their lives. The charity have previously supported heart screening, and provided sensory equipment and specially adapted wheelchairs amongst a number of worthy causes.

 

Cotswold Outdoor Donates £500 to DWAD

Canterbury's Cotswold Outdoor store was recently approached by Friday Filmworks Limited to use their store during filming. All was agreed with the "fee" being a donation to Donations With A Difference and two other charities, and the cheque for £500 was presented by store manager Steve Male.

Donations With A Difference are delighted to be able to support Folkestone Cricket Club with their CRY heart Screening.

 

DWAD Comedy Night - Tickets Now on Sale

Last year's DWAD Comedy Night raised £647 for the Donations With A Difference grant fund. On Thursday 9th June we return to the Astor Theatre in Deal to do it all again, with an even bigger line-up of comedy talent. Last year's stars Dave Bailey and Mark Simmons will return, alongside compere Paul Tingey, and they are joined by Jonny Emmet, Wilson Milton, Jim Daly, Anti-Duhring Battalion and Colin Anderson.

New 5-A-Side Champions Crowned

Last weekend saw Dover Leisure Centre play host to the fifth bi-annual DWAD charity 5-a-side football tournament. Three-time champions Crystal Phallus could not repeat their past successes and had to settle for victory in the minor final after they narrowly failed to progress from the group stage. That left four teams to contest the main trophy and Chris Samba's Soccer School emerged victorious.

DWAD Hits 2015 Target, Aims for £20k in 2016

Just over a year ago, Donations With A Difference set itself the task of raising £10,000 in 2015 to fund charitable grants that support the charity's objectives. Today we are pleased to announce that, with the help of all those who supported our events in the last year, we were successful in reaching this goal, raising just over ten thousand pounds.
