Walmer and Kingsdown GC Adopt a Charity with a Difference

Each year it is a tradition of the club that the charity to benefit from the fundraising efforts by members during the year is chosen by the incoming Club Captain. This year’s captain, Brian Wash, has chosen DWAD (Donations With A Difference).

“Formed over 100 years ago and encouraging ladies members and the local working classes from day one, Walmer and Kingsdown GC likes to think they are different” said Brian Wash. “I heard about DWAD’s pledge to the Kelly Turner fund and felt it was fitting to choose a charity who had strong connections with the local community.”

“The charity is managed by a group of successful local business people who are passionate about putting back into the local community and helping local people, and this struck a chord with me. They raise money in a fun way with a variety of events throughout the year, much like our club.”

One of the more unusual charity fun events Brian is planning during his year is a ‘Bake-Off’ and he hopes to encourage all members to give it a go.

Brian is also looking for local businesses to help with sponsorship for his Captain’s Charity Day on Sunday 11th June 2017. If you feel you can help, you can contact Brian at the club via email on info@kingsdowngolf.co.uk or call him on his mobile 07910 365815.
